Chapter 6 : I had turned to calling them the spawn of satan

"Party?" I asked in disbelief. I'd only been here a week and I had already been invited to a party. I'd been at my old school for 6 years and never once had I been invited to a party.

"Yes a party, Brooke," replied Reuben, looking at me like I'd grown a second head. It was Friday lunchtime and Jeremy, one of Sophie and Reuben's friend (who was now my friend) was having a party on Saturday night and he'd invited to me. I felt privileged to say the least, that was until Jeremy had stood up on the lunch table and announced to the whole cafeteria there was a party at his house on Saturday and they were all invited.

"I've never been to a party before," I stated to my friends sitting at the table.

The reaction that followed could have beaten the world record for number of flies eaten in a minute.

Harriett was the first one to pull her chin upwards and speak.

"Then this party is going to be the best party ever."

"I'll make sure of that," Jeremy reassured.

"You should come round to my house before the party, that way we can get ready together and you don't have to go into the party alone," Sophie offered. I smiled thankfully at her, although the idea of my first party was exciting it didn't make it any less intimidating.

"I'll have to ask my parents first," I said, although it was no doubt to me that they would let me go, they let my brothers go to parties all the time.

"Great, you could even stay the night at mine," Sophie suggested. I nodded my head.

"That sounds good."

------------------------------

The door swung open to reveal a smiling Sophie. She beckoned me in with her hand and led me down a corridor to what I assumed was her bedroom. It had a bright blue feature wall with 3 other plain white walls. She had a double bed with purple bed sheets in the centre of the room with the headboard of the bed touching the feature wall.

I dropped my bags down on the floor and went to sit next to Harriett, Chloe and Charlotte on the bed whilst Sophie rummaged through her wardrobe, trying to find an outfit for me tonight because I may have been a girl biologically but mentally I was closer to Timbuctoo than being a girl.

Sophie, Harriett, Chloe and Charlotte had immediately let me join their tight-knit group of friends and I was grateful for that. The four of them had been friends since 'kindergarten' and to accept me into their group left me owing them forever.

"Here we go," Sophie said pulling out a burgundy dress and some black heeled boots. I sarcastically laughed.

"Are you kidding me? That dress is far too short and I can't walk in heels." I exclaimed.

"Well, now is the time to start learning and if you've got legs to show off ..." Harriett started.

"You should show them off," Chloe finished.

"Besides that dress is made for you," Charlotte said.

"I don't kn-"

"You will try it on before rejecting," Sophie ordered me. I jumped up immediately grabbing the clothes from Sophie's hands before walking into her en-suite, only because I feared for my life, Sophie's evil glare was scary.

The dress didn't make me look ugly and I was happy with the way I looked. My hair was curled lightly and fell down to my centre back, whilst I had minimal amount of make up on, mascara and some light lip gloss on. The dress fell to my mid-thigh. The heels though, were no better than what they looked.
