41 - The Calmness Before The Storm.

Taehyung looked at Jungkook as the latter dozed off on a chair at the far corner of the meeting room. Technically, Jungkook was not even supposed to be here as he was not part of the police force but they just couldn't leave the younger one outside.

It might be because of Taehyung's bond with him but everyone seemed to be adoring Jungkook a lot, even chief Namjoon. And with both Yoongi and Taehyung fussing over him and wanting to keep him within their eyesight, it was not really possible to send him anywhere.

So that's why Jungkook was sitting at the back, bored out of his mind, and finally started to doze off.

Taehyung noticed it first, mainly because he had been sneaking glances every few seconds, and then others saw it too. Taehyung was surprised to see them all collectively uwu-ing and smiling softly at that. Especially Jin, who always seemed to have sort of a parental instinct over the other members.

When Jungkook's head fell to the side, making his body lean to that side a bit too, everyone subconsciously made movements in response. Taehyung put down the laser pointer he was holding and Yoongi already got up from his seat, with the intention of going to his brother.

"He's tired. I'll take care of him." Jin said loudly, stopping everyone's movements. "You guys carry on."

He didn't wait for a reply and walked towards the younger one. Everyone is extremely busy and Jin is the only one who could actually afford to spare a minute. He crouched in front of Jungkook and gently tapped his knee.

"Hey." Jin said in a gentle voice when Jungkook slowly opened his eyes. "Come on, I'll take you somewhere you can rest."

Jungkook rubbed his fists on his eyes, trying to push away the sleepiness, and Jin internally cooed at that. No wonder Taehyung is head over heels with this one, he's absolutely adorable. Jin really wanted to wrap the younger in a bubble wrap and put him in his pocket.

Jungkook looked at his brother and Taehyung and after getting a nod from both of them, got up and followed Jin out of the room. The elder was taking him towards the elevators and Jungkook just went without saying anything. He had to concentrate to not fall down halfway because he was feeling too damn sleepy.

"Do you remember me?" Jin asked after about a minute of walking and Jungkook nodded his head.

"You were at the coffee shop. Jin h-hyung." Jungkook answered nervously and Jin chucked at that.

Jungkook couldn't believe that he called the other 'hyung'. It's just that he had heard Taehyung call the elder that few times at the meeting and the phrase just got stuck in his mind. It was evident that the other was much older than him and Jungkook didn't want to be rude.

"Yeah. I'm Kim Seokjin. I'm sorry for being rude that day. I thought you were one of Jay's men since that brat didn't tell me anything. Did you really came there to dig up info on him?"

Jungkook felt his face heat up as he remembered that day. He not only failed to get any dirt on Taehyung but also got caught up by him later that day too.

"Yeah." Jungkook mumbled uneasily. "Didn't know what I was thinking."

"Well, it was very poorly done. You could have gotten into big trouble."

Jin's voice sounded like he's scolding Jungkook but it was in a good and affectionate way. Jungkook just muttered 'I know' as a response.

The elder had led Jungkook into a shower area after picking up some clothes. It was a tracksuit, one from the stock to be issued to new recruits, and Jungkook was so grateful to change out of his clothes. He took a shower, got dressed in fresh clothes and waited outside the shower area as Jin had told him to do.

Jin returned after few minutes, with a  burger and a bottle of water. He then led Jungkook back to an area of staff rooms with bunk beds. These were used by the staff when they crashed at the headquarters overnight.

There were few rooms actually and one of them, with four beds, is assigned for the special task force.

"Try to get some sleep. We will be staying here for a while, I guess." Jin said in a tight voice, making Jungkook remember the situation at hand.

"Do you think you will be able to find him?"

"We will try. Your brother seemed like a genius, I wouldn't be surprised if he managed to pin his location even if the system couldn't. And then there's the guy who planted the bomb in Tae's car. It's kind of a long shot but once we get him in custody, we hope we will be able to get some answers."

Jungkook appreciated the elder giving him a proper answer, and not trying to sugar-coat things. Like his hyung or even Taehyung would do. And while he's nowhere near the experience or the competency they had, Jungkook absolutely hated that they both treat him like a high schooler.

"Now rest." Jin said a little sternly but then gave a small smile to the younger one. "We'll let you know if there is any progress."

Jungkook gave the other a genuinely grateful smile. He liked Jin.

Jungkook didn't even remember laying down on the bed after he finished with his snack. Guess he just crashed.

The meeting room was buzzing with action when Jin returned. They had managed to locate the person who fixed the bomb in Taehyung's car and he's currently being brought here for questioning. He'll get here within an hour.

It was agreed that Hoseok should lead with the questioning as Taehyung seemed to be too edgy. Hoseok might look like a happy sunshine but he also had this tough side to him which is more intimidating than you would think. If anyone can get the answers, it'll be him.

Yoongi was trying to pinpoint Jay's location, using the radio signals that were captured in the call he gave to Taehyung. It was an idea that Yoongi had from some time and he had been working to develop a system for the same. It definitely is a tiring and a long process but if all goes well, they should be able to get a location within a few hours.

Jimin had been taking turns to stare at the screen and Yoongi's face as he couldn't believe how genius that plan was. It sounded rather far-fetching when he heard it first but after seeing Yoongi's work for the past one hour, he was left with an open mouth and an undying admiration.

Both tech geeks even forgot to get anything to eat until Jin put the snacks in front of them and forced them to eat. For a second though, Yoongi looked as if he's gonna refuse but then picked up a sandwich while continuing to work with one hand.

The interrogation of the person responsible for fixing the bomb resulted in uncovering another helping hand that Jay had. The locals were sent to arrest the man as he was not even worth wasting the manpower of the special operation team.

Hoseok, Jin and Taehyung, including a few other people, were asked to take a rest as they need to be ready when Yoongi comes up with a location. Taehyung agreed immediately as he was not being useful right now and also because he wanted to check up on his baby.

After a shower and fresh clothes, Taehyung got on to the same bed that Jungkook was sleeping in, but was careful not to wake up the younger one. He cautiously spooned Jungkook, gently stroking his hair and was delighted to see him snuggling more into his back.

"T-tae...?" Jungkook mumbled sleepily and Taehyung felt his heart soar in happiness.

"Shhh....yeah, it's me....go back to sleep." Taehyung said in a soft voice as he pulled Jungkook into a warm embrace.

Jungkook mumbled a few more sentences but Taehyung was not able to hear it properly. It didn't sound as if the younger one was actually awake so Taehyung chalked it up to sleep talk. He felt the sleepiness clouding his mind as his eyelids started to get heavier.

And for the first time after a very, very, long time, Taehyung fell into a relaxing and peaceful sleep.
