It was dark.

You were in the middle of yet another existential crisis.

At this point, it had become an everyday routine for you.

Every night, you crawled up in your bed, covering every single part of your body with a blanket, trying to hide from the rest of the world.

Every night, you disappeared in the darkest corner of your room, slowly fading away.

You didn't cry, no. It wasn't because there were no more tears for you to shed, nor were you too broken to do so. You simply had nothing to cry for. Nothing ever happened in your life. No happiness, no drama, no people to disappoint you. Just emptiness.

You were lost. Feeling alone in rooms full of people. You never really clicked anywhere. 'Too weird' for some and 'too boring' to others.

Life was passing by and you were left behind to watch.

And just like every other pointless year, the day you were dreading the most had come. It was no surprise that you were alone in the dark room. Where else could you possibly be?

You had slid your head between the thick grey curtain and the wall of your room, discreetly observing the couples that passed by from the small window next to your bed. Some were holding hands, others hugging and kissing.

And you were simply an observer. You wondered how it felt like to have someone next to you. Even for a single day.

𝑰 𝒘𝒊𝒔𝒉 𝑰 𝒉𝒂𝒅 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒎𝒆, you mumbled to yourself.

The closest you ever got to a boyfriend, were the imaginary characters from the fan fictions you read online. The sweet and caring husband-material boyfriends or the rude and hot 'bad boys' that grew soft only for their lover.

You have always loved to keep your mind occupied by joining random fandoms. You thought that connecting with people that shared common interests with you would mean you've found a home. And that's what you tried to do for many years. Look for that home... that family...

Until you actually found it. Or rather it found you...

Until you became a STAY.
