I was out enjoying life with my bestfriends. Times like this make me wish I was still young.
But I'm not. I'm currently 37 and I'm done raising all my children.
This time in my life I'm simply enjoying life and doing what makes me happy.
"Girl when you gone introduce us to your man? We been dying to know" Mariah asked.
All my friends are married, some are grandparents. But most importantly, they have older lovers.
I know that'll clown me when they find out I'm seeing a man that I'm a decade older than.
"Not no time soon chile. Y'all gone see him when y'all see him" I said grabbing my purse.
I headed home and laid down. There was a knock on my door .
I huffed getting up asking who it is at my door. Thinking it's one of my children, I open the door but it's Dayvon.
"Hey ma. Good evening" he said smiling kissing all on me.
You see the thing with Dayvon and I was we both was laid back & chill but neither one of us did this before.
I went for older men and Dayvon usually was involved with women younger than him or the same age.
So this was new to us. "Hey boo , sit down " I said as he closed the door behind him.
We was on the couch watching tv while I played in his hair.
"How was work?" I asked smiling.
"Good as hell. I constantly got shows selling out . I'm happy asl ma fr " he said laying down on my chest.
I could sense that he had something to tell me but that he wasn't ready to get it out.
But we been fw with each other for damn near a year, it's speak now or forever hold your peace.
"Dayvon what chu got on ur mind? I could feel u growing tense" I said .
He ain't wanna say nun. Then he spilled it all. "Victoria this shit we got going on kind of hard fa a Nigga. Ian never date no older woman especially one 10 years older than me , so I'm still trynna adjust to the shit" he admitted.
Which it was nothing wrong with that. People that comment under his photos call me a cougar and say I'm wrong but I believe love has no age.
"Who said something now Von? I know u saying this cause somebody commented on something" I asked.
He pulled out his phone and showed me. He posted a photo of us in the bed and people were saying horrible things in the comments.
From "Old bitch " to "Cougar" , it was ridiculous. But I didn't want him to let comments like that get to him.
"It's okay Von. I'm not embarrassed or nothing, let people talk" I said brushing it off.
"If u ain't embarrassed then why can't u meet my friends? Why can't I meet yours ma? Like u ashamed of a Nigga or something? " he asked.
Hell no. This was the man of my dreams. I wanted to marry him, possibly have kids and move in together.
But that can't happen if he pressed about little things like that.
"No Von. But it's hard alright? My friends are in there 40s some 50, they brag about their grandkids, being married for 20+ years and everything. I can't relate to that. That's all I'm trynna say" I said.
I looked at Von's face and he looked hurt. I felt really bad.
"I'm sorry Dayvon. Look tommorow is thanksgiving. How about I attend the thanksgiving dinner with u? Aren't your friends and family gonna be there?" I asked holding his hand.
"Yea but it's different and shit nie ma. My grandma not here anymore. So my family been drifting " he added.
I definitely know it feels to lose your grandparents. I'm still healing from my grandmother died when I was 19.
"I feel u on that. So how about I bring some light to the dinner okay? We can go meet ur friends if they not there . Same day or another day. It doesn't matter. Whatever to make u happy okay? I love u " I said lifting his face up.
He smiled giving me a hug. "I love u too Vixen Vicky " he teased causing us both to crack up.

Ugh here they go. Anyway, I waited for Von to pull up. My baby was looking so nice in his Gucci polo.
We headed to Von's mother house and he was giving me a mouthful soon as I got in the car .
"Victoria u look like a damn hooker. I would make u change but ian wanna be late" he complained.
I'm a grown ass woman and that house is full of grown ass folks I'm sure. Why tf I gotta change?
"Dayvon I'm 37 years old. I don't need to change anything . Who tf are u?" I bucked.
"I'm yo damn husband that's who" he clapped back.
Until I get a ring Chile, u still my boyfriend.
Von knocked on the door and we were greeted by his cousin Baylo.
I actually follow Baylo on Instagram, he seems very cool.
"Wassup cuz" Baylo said to Von as they hugged.
"Wassup my boy, my mama nem here?" Von asked.
"Hell yea, who is this pretty lady?" Baylo asked.
"Dis my girlfriend Victoria" he introduced me to Baylo and we hugged lightly.
I walked in and Chile it was like a pin had dropped.
After grace was said, and mouths were fed, Von decided to get everybody's attention.
"Alright y'all , I'm sure y'all wondering who this is on the left. This is my girlfriend Victoria . She's a doctor " He stated everybody was so nice expect his sister.
