12:57 pm.

"So, will you tell me what he was doing there this morning or?" Lilly raised a question, shooting a glance at Vera. She remained silent as she sauntered into the doctor's office. Lilly swirled her eyes and crossed her arms.

Vera was one to keep people on their toes. She was a woman of few words when it came to toe-curling curiosities.

"Hi, Vera Bernacelli for one o'clock?" Vera tells the receptionist. He gave her a small nod and started to type away on the screen in front of him. Lilly squeezes her arms impatiently, tapping her foot against the marble floor.

Vera pursed her lips as she saw her best friend irritated by her silence. She couldn't help but chuckle to herself, enjoying tormenting her friends from time to time.

"The nurse will come out for you shortly." The receptionist announces, looking up at the two. Vera nodded, offering a warm smile before she went to take a seat in the waiting room.

Lilly followed soon after, already used to the office since this wasn't the first few times she visited with Vera.

"You know I'll find out someway if you don't tell me," Lilly muttered, stealing a glance at Vera who sat down.

Vera couldn't help but have a grin spread across her lips. "He was just visiting me." She mumbles as she unlocked her phone.

Lilly rolls her eyes. "No shit. For what, though?"

Vera sighed, turning herself towards her best friend. "He didn't know why he visited either. His car broke down nearby, so he visited."

Lilly had walked into the apartment at ten in the morning, coming from her girlfriend, Cherie's apartment. She was expecting to find Vera alone but she was met with Ezio leaving her bedroom.

They both had an awkward exchange as Vera emerged from her bedroom. Once Ezio left as quickly as he could, not before sneaking a peck on Vera's cheek, away from Lilly's view, Vera was aware that her best friend would pester her for answers.

Vera could still feel the tingles where his lips laid a kiss at. Her cheeks burned as she recalled the memory of the euphoria.

"So, you're telling me that instead of calling for help, he just walked a block, in the pouring rain to your place?" Lilly raised a question, not believing the story.

Vera bit her lip as she nodded. "Yeah, I don't know either." She mumbled, shrugging. "But if he wasn't there, I don't know what would've happened to me last night," Vera admitted.

Lilly felt instant guilt wave through her body, feeling selfish she wasn't near Vera in time of need. "I'm sorry I wasn't there. I should've been."

Vera shook her head. "It's not your fault, Lilly. It's not your responsibility. I'm okay." She reassured with a smile.

As Lilly was about to reply, the nurse called for Vera. Lilly quickly stood up, helping her best friend as she struggled with her prominent belly.
