Humanity was at its mercy. A hand of a titan gripped the wall that was over fifty meters tall and its head peaked over, like it was mocking them. Eren gritted his teeth as he could hear collective gasps from the people around them.
Eren kept trembling, even when the titans had already breached the wall and ran amock. He remembers.
His mother...and someone who he called a friend aside from Armin and Mikasa were left alone in the house they called home.
"Mother!" He first yelled out, and then...
"Cale!"

Everything was blurry, the redhead could see two, small figures trying to lift up a wood above him, them. Then another came, a blonde man as they all talked distinctively. Cale's eyes focused on the blade in the man's ODM gear as he discreetly stole one.
They then left, hearing a familiar scream of stop from Eren.
Cale groaned in pain as he coughed out blood. He looked beside him to see Eren's mother trying her best to remove the debris above them.
"Don't go."
He has a plan, and he needed Carla alive for it to happen.
He saw Eren trying to break free from Hannes' grip from afar as he knew the titan was already behind them.
"Ma'am..." His hoarse voice caught the older woman's attention as she looked at him with worry.
"I need to ask you for a favor."
The roof were removed as Cale could see the hideous looking titan stare at them.
"Miss Carla." The redhead abruptly look at the older woman before continuing, "Do you want to live?"
Her breath hitched as tears freely fell down her cheeks then nodded in desperation.
"I see...then please trust me. I have a plan."
Cale asked for her apron as Carla tore what she can. The redhead then looked at them again as he decided to put a small amount of his ancient power to make Hannes run faster.
"As long as we're not decapitated and not chomped off, we will live." He talked while hurriedly tied the torn apron on the blade to act as a hilt.
"Please hold on tight to me."
Cale had a stoic expression on his face, but his eyes held certainty and comfort that Carla couldn't do anything but close her eyes and nodded.
The titan pulled them both out as Cale couldn't help but squirm at the strength. He clicked his tongue as he readied the blade in his hands.
The hideous thing was about to decapitate both of them when Cale swung the blade with his full force, managing to cut the hand as he also severed the one that was holding both of them.
"Miss Carla!" Cale yelled in affirmation as he jumped towards the mouth of the titan with Eren's mother. The woman couldn't help but scream in fear as Cale held her while activating his Silver Shield.
"STOP!"
Of course, Cale made sure it was all an accident in the eyes of Eren as they proceeded to dive straight at the titan's throat down to the stomach.
"LET GO! MOTHER!"
"CALE!"
The redhead could only sigh at the last voice he heard before opening his eyes, Carla's unconscious body beside him as the Silver Shield was activated without any problem.
