Caput LIX: Show Me a Hero
Annabeth was very calmly walking toward the lake when Nico tripped over something and nearly hit her. He spat out a vicious curse as he kicked something, and there was a metal pinging sound.
"Err, Nico?" she asked. He stooped over and scooped a helm up.
"Don't talk to me," he grumbled as he marched away. "I am so done with tripping over my own two feet.
**We're still building tension to the "Where a Lioness Fights" chapter. Perhaps Annabeth hears word that Percy is doing something? Or finally makes peace with the idea that she might have miscarried? Or Demtetria tells her she thinks she's pregnant? OR SOMETHING? Actually, I like the last one - Annabeth's horrified by the idea that her problems, like dying, seem small. And she begins to realize that maybe there's a whole world out there of people living their own lives with problems just as bad as her own, if not worse...?
